Sacred Thing was founded in 2019 by Holly Featherstone and Barnie Page.
Sacred Thing is a contemporary art concept store that collaborates with artists to create limited edition sculptures.
Its permanent outlet is online but it will occasionally materialise in the physical realm, in the form of temporary solo exhibitions, to celebrate the launch of a new Thing. These solo presentations will each be staged in a different space, chosen as the most befitting of the artist’s concept.
Sacred Thing's core value is accessibility: giving artists an opportunity to create new work, showcasing their art to new audiences and using the edition format to make affordable sculptures for art lovers to collect.
The first edition is ‘Potato The Great’ by Emilia Bergmark. Bergmark’s sculpture is an edition of 25 jesmonite casts of the potato that came second in the 2019 Harrogate Giant Vegetable Competition. Each cast has been hand-painted by the artist with a unique abstract motif.
